b'P lease enjoy the City of Tucsons Public Safety Communications Department (PSCD) inaugural Annual Report for 2022! Thank you for taking the time to learn about the critical work being performed by our dedicated 911 professionals and administrative staff as we continue to partner with local law enforcement, fire and EMS, behavioral health providers and other City departments to ensure the safety and well-being of residents and visitors to our beautiful City. It is my absolute privilege and honor to be at the helm as our department embraces agility and continues to grow, transition, and improve.2022 was a year of challenge and growth for our department. We addressed staffing, training, wellness, cultural and retention issues and managed a major move to our newly remodeled space, all while navigating the effects of a lingering pandemic. At the national level, the PSCD leadership team participated in Transform911, an effort surrounding the improvement of the 9-1-1 system. Internally, we have worked diligently to build a foundation of trust and opportunity by investing in our staff, knowing that todays frontline members are our future leaders. We have revamped foundational policy and rebuilt our training program to properly reflect our consolidated operations and have partnered with the Citys Human Resources Department to enhance recruitment efforts and implement true career paths. We retained an employee council, added a fully equipped wellness center, a kitchen, mental health resources and a sensory room, and proudly trained and promoted 42 of our staff. We know that a committed and continued investment in our personnel is paramount to our success, and while much has been accomplished, much work lies ahead. Please join me in thanking my amazing team for their dedication, professionalism and commitment to excellence and servitude. They truly are uncelebrated heroes, providing the calming voice on the other end of the phone when our community members are experiencing an emergency. I am so very proud of the work they do for our community every single day. Thank you as well to our public safety partners for providing operational staffing and administrative support in our times of need.Exciting times lie ahead for the PSCD! I appreciate and look forward to the continued support of our community, our City leadership, our honorable Mayor and Council and city staff as we move into 2023. Onward!Sharon McDonough Public Safety Communications, Director2022 n ANNUAL REPORT7'
