b'THE MOVEAfter years of providing incredible service in less-than-ideal workspace conditions, our big move was completed this year!We are now in our newly renovated and expanded Emergency Communications Center. Several years of planning and effort went into this step forward, made possible with the financial and moral support of our Mayor, City Council, City Manager and many others including City IT and City Environmental Services departments. Our new facility boasts over 28,000 square feet of well-designed space providing relief to the dedicated staff who had been performing the same work in less than 7,000 square feet for many years. The additional square footage has allowed for all workstations to meet new social distancing standards in a comfortable and ergonomic space. Other new priority workplace amenities include a fully equipped employee wellness room with functional exercise equipment, a sensory room for private relaxation and decompression for staff and a bunk room to house our 24-hour Alarm Room Captains. There is also private space for employee development and conversations with our incoming behavioral services professional. The old space now serves as a fully functioning training center and we have room to expand the Tucson Realtime Analytic Crime Center (TRACC). In the training area, there are 18 positions that allow trainees access to all the tools they will encounter when deployed to the operations floor, eliminating the shock and learning curve previously experienced during the transition from the classroom to the floor. Having a designated TRACC space represents the future capability to better support our public safety partners through emerging technologies combined with on-site resources. Finally, the remodeled spaces were designed with increased resiliency to disruption of services. A new, correctly sized generator and battery backup system ensures continuity of services should the electrical grid be interrupted. The new training facility can also serve as a secondary backup space by strategically providing separately supported call taking, dispatching and radio functionality. The impact that our renovated space will have in supporting our staff and community is immeasurable, City ITs Jack Goldhorn worked and we look forward to enjoying our new home for years toalongside our departments technology come! team to ensure our center remained fully functional throughout the entire renovation process.40CITY OF TUCSON n PUBLIC SAFETY COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT'
